The city of North Las Vegas has its Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a major tourist attraction in itself, as well as Nellis Air Force Base, one of the strongest military bases in the US, home to the flying Thunderbirds. As far as accommodations are concerned, there are several spots, popular with both locals and tourists alike, including The Fiesta and Texas Station Hotel & Casino, across the street from each other. Theres also the Santa Fe, in northwest Las Vegas, unique for its Olympic-style Santa Fe Ice Arena.

Area 51 - Alien Inn - Extraterrestrial Highway
One of the most famous and interesting tourist sites near Las Vegas is the town of Rachel, Nevada. The area is controversial due to the close proximity of the secretive Nevada Test Sites Area 51. Rumors have surrounded this small town for years about alien space ships and UFO sightings, so enthusiasts flock here to stake out the desert sky looking for proof of life on other planets. The most famous spot in Rachel is the Little A Le In, which is simply a small bar & restaurant with motel and campsite. There isn't much else out here, but extraterrestrial life sightings might make it worth the trip. To get to Rachel, take I-15 North to Exit 64, going West on US-93....Extraterrestrial Highway. on to State Route 375 west until arriving in Rachel. Total driving time from Las Vegas is approximately three hours and twenty minutes, and is 300 miles roundtrip.

Summerlin
Located in the far northwest section of the Las Vegas valley, Summerlin is a planned community with homes, shops, recreational activities, festivals and concerts. A major destination is the Regency, (formerly the Resort at Summerlin) a world-class resort which holds its own against the poshest of the Strip hotel/casinos. It's also become an important business center. The latest addition is the Suncoast Hotel and Casino, which opened in 2000.
